What happens when I work with no signal?
What you'll do: Most job actions and all your report edits are saved on your phone and sync automatically when you're back online. A few actions need a connection. If a synced action fails, you can review exactly which one and retry it.
What works offline
These queue up and replay when you reconnect, in order:
- Start Travel, End Travel/Reached Site, Start Work, Hold, Resume
- End Work (including signatures)
- All your Field Service Report field edits
What needs a connection
- Complete Job
- Generate FSR (interim report)
- Request / Retract Cancellation
If you try Complete Job offline, it's blocked with a message telling you your report is saved and will be ready when you're back online.
The offline banner
While offline you'll see a banner such as "You're offline. N action(s) queued — will sync when online." When you reconnect it shows "Syncing N queued action(s)…".
If something failed to sync
If a queued action couldn't be applied (for example the job's state changed on the server while you were offline), the banner shows "N action failed — tap to review." Tap Review to open the list, which shows, for each failed action:
- what the action was and which job it belongs to,
- the exact error from the server,
- Retry (for actions that can still be retried) or Dismiss (with a confirmation before discarding any signed report data).
This means no action fails silently — you can always see what didn't go through and decide what to do.
Reading data offline
Job lists and details you've already opened stay readable from memory, but they may be out of date — the banner warns "Job data may be outdated." Use Sync now on the Profile tab (or just reconnect) to refresh.
